Equine Sports Massage
Why use massage?
Equine Massage can benefit all horses from the leisure horse to the top eventer. It does not need to be used purely as a response to an injury or a problem, it can also be used for prevention of injuries, maintenance and like us humans - relaxation!
It can improve and remove specific issues and it can also be used as a regular part of a fitness routine to improve recovery time after strenuous exercise and to prevent injury.
When you notice the following, massage could be of benefit of your horse:
Uneven muscle development
Preferred rein
Stiffness in motion, unlevel or irregular action
Asymmetry, i.e. stiffness on one rein, disunited canter
Sensitivity to touch, spasms in muscles
Unexplained resistances i.e. rearing, bucking, overly forward going, napping
Recurrent lameness
Uncharacteristic changes in behaviour, performance or temperament
Displeasure at being mounted, tacked up, working in an outline
